There are fertility issues I think I need to address. It is the relationship between hypothyroidism and infertility that has been clearly established but sometimes overlooked as a cause. It concerns you especially if you are trying to conceive a baby.
What is hypothyroidism?
It is the lack of hormone production. Fertility is affected when lower than normal levels of the thyroid hormone is produced that affected ovulation. A hormone by the name Prolactin that helps in the woman’s milk production. An increase of such hormones due to hypothyroidism is resulting in ovulation problems. It’s associated with women who are at a reproductive age or stage of their lives.
Can hypothyroidism occurs at any levels?
These days, women should be aware that hypothyroidism can occur at both mild and severe levels. When tested, low levels of the thyroid stimulating hormone will suggest a mild instance of hypothyroidism while at the other end of the scale, high levels, and the case is more severe.
What are the symptoms of hypothyroidism?
Fatigue and weight gain are just 2 symptoms which are common while other tell tale signs include irritability, quick heart beat, depression, unpredictable menstrual cycles and dry skin.
Resolve hypothyroidism to solve fertility issues.
If fertility issues are plaguing you right now and you haven’t considered hypothyroidism, then you should see a doctor. Diagnosis can usually be established via a blood test although, some patients may need extra testing.
Using medication to help treat infertility.
Taking in a hormone pill will be the likely treatment for patients of thyroid deficiency. The doctor will probably re-check the treatment several times before a correct dosage is maintained.
There are debate for many years between hypothyroidism and fertility issues. Remember, it can be easily overlooked because some of it’s symptoms are also associated with other conditions so just for peace of mind, talk to your doctor about it.
